Material Matters

Armed with the intention of blurring the line between fashion design and interior design, IIDA Southwest Chapter held the 1st Annual IIDA Finish to Fashion Event.

Design teams representing 25 local interior design firms were assigned a color from Milliken Revolve 2007 Color Forecast palette and then matched up with manufacturers who donated materials. Materials included wall coverings, carpet and even tile. The teams had one month to design an outfit using the color and materials assigned.

On February 21, 2008 the event kicked-off at the Tempe Center for the Arts, benefiting Arizona Women’s Education & Employment. The couture designs were unveiled to a sold-out audience in a unique runway show. Special guest speaker Kaye Gosline of Milliken & Company and The Color Marketing Group (CMG) gave a multimedia presentation between phases of the show illustrating the inspiration of the colors assigned to the designers.

The team at kontakt chose their six favorite garments to feature in the April/May fashion shoot.
